From the cottage and the surrounding area there are lots of animals and birds to spot if you keep your eyes peeled!

The wildlife around us is plentiful and you may spot deer, buzzards and other birds of prey, the occasional osprey even!  We spotted a red kite only the other day.

A group of deer high up on the hills.
A group of hinds
The magnificent sight of a rutting stag - an amazing picture taken by our local deer stalker.

In the nearby fields are 3 or 4 herds of highland cows - we have about 30 new calves in the fields, all doing very well and just about the be separated from their mums who will be having new babies in the spring.

We have also spotted red squirrel, and otters swimming off Letter point;  and at night-time if you are lucky you may get a quick glimpse of a pinemarten.

Some of our guests have been lucky to spot deer grazing in the back garden/field - an awesome sight to see this iconic species so close up.....however, since Forestry Commission Scotland decided to fence off a large area of north Loch Katrine, to catch a glimpse now is indeed a special treat.   See our blog page for the latest as residents are campaigning against what we feel is wrongful practice!   It is possible still to see deer up on the higher hill by walking up the track behind the cottage.   A fantastic view also from the top!

Fishing is available with us, row out a short way, anchor up and enjoy the peace.   We can also organise fishing with our local ghillie John, or for something different, how would you like to learn how to make flies with Ronnie?

We have an amazing number of birds in the garden - blue tits, coaltits, long tailed tits, chaffinches, bullfinches, robins, dunnocks, siskins, blackbirds and the occasional lesser spotted woodpecker.  And in the summer months our resident housemartens give a spectacular flying display.  At night bats can be seen in the neighbourhood, and the occasional owl hooting in the distance can be heard.

Dolores, Betty, Maisie and Flora are our resident chickens, and provide us with fresh eggs on a regular basis!

We can arrange deer stalking locally - also deer or badger watching.
